Sanibel Captiva Holdings Names Gordon as CCO

Sanibel Captiva Holdings, Inc. recently announced the addition of the firm’s new Chief Compliance Officer, Darryl S. Gordon, CFE to oversee and implement compliance standards for The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company and its divisions of The Naples Trust Company and The Tampa Bay Trust Company. Gordon’s compliance responsibilities include the monitoring of The Trust Company’s strength of internal controls and audits; adequacy of earnings, compliance with governing instruments, applicable laws and sound fiduciary principles.
Al Hanser, Founder and Chairman said, “As a firm with $1.4 billion of assets under management, substantial fiduciary responsibilities, and offices now spanning from Tampa Bay to Marco Island, we believe the prudent addition of an in-house Chief Compliance Officer in Darryl, provides the proper counsel warranted for a company of this caliber and size.”
Prior to joining the firm, Gordon was a regulatory financial examiner in Tampa for the Florida Office of Financial Regulation for 17 years. In addition to managing similar components for The Trust Company, he frequently served as the examiner in charge, responsible for all phases of the examination process, which included reporting on the findings.
Gordon also worked for the Florida Division of Retirement as a benefit specialist reviewing retirement accounts to determine benefit payment obligations according to Florida Statutes. He counseled retirees and beneficiaries concerning survivor benefits under the Florida Retirement System.
Gordon is a Certified Fraud Examiner and received his degree in Accounting with a minor in Finance from Jacksonville University, Jacksonville, Florida, graduating with honors, magna cum laude.
