Knize Joins Naples Trust Co As Estate Settlement Specialist

The Naples Trust Company is pleased to announce the addition of Peter Knize, J.D., Senior Vice President to the Trust Administration team specializing in Estate Settlement. He will work with Trust Company clients from Marco Island to Tampa Bay in their estate settlement planning and be responsible for managing the assets, debts and estate taxes of the decedent, as well as distribute remaining assets to heirs. “Estate Settlement is a detailed and complex process,” said David J. Port, J.D., Fiduciary Services, “and our client base has a growing need for these services corporate-wide, prompting us to expand our trust administration team with a highly respected and accomplished professional in Peter Knize.”
Prior to joining The Naples Trust Company, Knize served as Senior Vice President of Trust Services at Investors’ Security Trust of Fort Myers, FL. He worked with clients, their families and advisors to create estate planning and tax strategies designed to successfully achieve the client’s needs. He was also a member of the firm’s Senior Management Committee and the Trust Administration and Acceptance Committee. Earlier, Peter practiced law in North Carolina and Florida in the areas of estate planning, trust and estate administration, guardianship, taxation, corporate law, business succession, real estate and trust and probate litigation.
Peter received a Bachelor of Science, Cardiopulmonary Science, from the University of Central Florida, having first established a career in medicine as a Registered Respiratory Therapist. He also obtained a Bachelor of Arts, History, from the University of South Florida; a Master of Arts, History, with honors, from the University of South Florida; a Juris Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University; and a Master of Laws, Estate Planning, from the University of Miami.
Peter serves as a member-at-large board of director of the Lee County Bar Association; first vice president of the Estate Planning Council of Lee County and vice president of the 20th Judicial Circuit’s Guardian ad Litem Foundation. He is a co-chair of the Lee County Bar Association’s Real Property Probate and Trust Law section and co-chair of the Charlotte County Bar Association’s Real Property Probate and Trust Law section. Peter is a member of both the North Carolina Bar and Florida Bar and is admitted to practice in the U.S. Tax Court and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. He is also a member of the Collier, Lee, Charlotte and Cape Coral Bar Associations, and the American Bar Association.
