Naples Trust Company Hosts Collier Demographics and Growth Lecture

The Naples Trust Company recently held their first program of the season entitled, “The Evolving Character of Collier County” to over 125 guests at The Naples Yacht Club. Dr. Aysegul Timur, Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean, Johnson School of Business at Hodges University served as the featured speaker.
Dr. Timur covered the growth trend of Collier County, as well as future cultural and economic trends. “Our guests were very interested in this topic,” said Naples Trust Company president, Carol Boyd. “This is the kind of information that provides us with an outlook not only for our own future, but the generations to follow.”
Between 2020 and 2040, Collier’s population is expected to grow from 396,895 people to just under 600,000; and then again to just over 700,000 by 2050. Latino is the fastest growing ethnicity in the county currently at 27% of the population and expected to be at 45% by 2050.
The economic wealth index shows that Collier County is at least 45% higher than that of Florida as a whole and this trend will continue through 2025. Collier’s aggregate household incomes are primarily from wage and salary at 47%, however, a healthy 24% is derived from interest, dividends or net rental income.
The predominant age groups currently show 65–84 years as the largest segment at 26.70%, 45–64 years at 24.90% followed by 26-44 years at 19.60%. Dr. Timur went on to highlight wages and primary industries, as well as housing costs and home ownership. She also discussed poverty levels and access to medical care.
